About Us

Emily Van Wie, Bridges Safehouse, Texas

Meet Emily Van Wie

Bridges is a nonprofit, faith based transitional housing which is operated by donors and volunteers.  We at Bridges believe within our hearts in the need to comfort and encourage women.  We provide shelter, resources, and life skills, necessary to empower them for life’s obstacles. We do this with a stable and safe environment while we instill the confidence and character to take their lives to the next level .

I am originally from Wisconsin and have served in various areas of nonprofit ministry for the past decade. Through my experience of volunteering and working in the business department at The Oaks Fellowship, I developed a heart to serve the community and minister to those in need.

In 2009 I graduated with a Master’s degree in Public Affairs, and with a Master’s certification in Nonprofit Management. Throughout the last few years, I have seen God develop my heart to serve those that may not be fully equipped to make positive changes in their lives. I also have a strong passion to equip nonprofit organizations to fulfill their greatest potential by networking, utilizing resources wisely, and being responsible stewards to the mission.

If I have not met you yet, or if you are interested in learning more about our ministry, please call the office at 469.272.4441 or email me at emily.vanwie@bridgessafehouse.org. I look forward to the future and to all that God will do through us.  Together we will make a difference.

Our History

Bridges was founded as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1998 to serve those in desperate times of need by providing shelter and loving care and support. For the last decade and a half, Bridges has served and partnered with its community and the surrounding metropolis by providing shelter and safety for those in great need.

Currently Bridges specifically serves women who are pregnant and women with children who have no where else to turn. Since the beginning of Bridges, it has been amazing to see God’s blessing on all that come through our doors.

What We Do

Bridges Safehouse seeks to encourage, empower and equip pregnant, homeless women and women in crisis, and their children, by providing shelter, resources, life-skills training, and mentoring while they are in our care.

Bridges offers a warm and safe environment where families can find rest, peace, hope and a fresh start. Through volunteers, we seek to equip our residents through one-on-one mentoring, life skills classes, and spiritual development. We also seek to connect residents to resources, including high school diplomacy, professional counseling, maternity homes, long-term transitional housing, and other nonprofit and government services, to aid them in becoming healthy and independent.

We would love to partner with individuals and organizations in serving women and children! Please contact us for more info!
